Remarks - Cephalcia annulicornis was long considered to be a junior synonym of C. alpina (= C.falleni (Dalmann, 1823)), until Battisti etal. (1998) treated them as separate species. The two species differ, according to Battisti et al. (1998), in karyological, biological, and morphological characters, though they are sympatric, occurring together in the same place and almost simultaneously. In morphological characters, the two species were distinguished by the colour pattern of the head, thorax and abdomen in the females and by the colour pattern of the head and thorax in the males (Battisti et al. 1998). We have tried to identify the Carpathian specimens of this group by using these characters. Of the 31 specimens examined, 14 specimens (2 females and 12 males) were identified with C.
