Taxonomic comments -Andricus lignicolus was described on the basis of the gall only, and after examining the typical series we noted a small confusion, that seems not to affect the validity of the species. One of the type galls has the label "Reaumur. IV, T. 35, fig. 5", but this picture belongs in fact to A. kollari, as Hartig realised later (Hartig 1843). The label remains on one of the A. lignicolus galls, but we consider Hartig'
