FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LXII 2001 pp. 115-125 Synonymy of two genera (Fioriella and Plagiotrochus) of cynipid gall wasps and the description of the sexual generation of Plagiotrochus razeti Barbotin (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae, Cynipinae) G. Melika, P. Ros-Farré and J. Pujade-Villar Synonymy of two genera (Fioriella and Plagiotrochus) of cynipid gall wasps and the description of the sexual generation of Plagiotrochus razeti Barbotin (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae, Cynipinae) — The genus Fioriella Kieffer, 1903 is a syn. nova of Plagiotrochus Mayr, 1882. The asexual generation of Plagiotrochus marianii (Kieffer, 1902), comb, nova is closely related to the asexual generation of Plagiotrochus razeti Barbotin, 1985. Dryocosmus cabrerae (Kieffer) mentioned by Tavares, 1930 (non Kieffer, 1901) is a syn. nova of Plagiotrochus razeti, asexual generation. The variability of Plagiotrochus razeti is mentioned and its new sexual generation is described. Lectotype of Plagiotrochus marianii is designated. Key words: Cynipidae, Plagiotrochus, Fioriella, synonymy, gall wasp, taxonomy, morphology. INTRODUCTION The genus Fioriella Kieffer, 1903, with one known species, F. marianii (Kieffer, 1902), was established to substitute Fioria Kieffer, 1903 because this name was preoccupied by Silvestri for Myriapoda in 1869. Originally Fioriella Kieffer (= Fioria Kieffer) was described (Kieffer 1903a) with the designation of Callirhytis marianii Kieffer, 1902 (asexual generation) and Callirhytis meunieri Kieffer, 1902 (sexual generation) as genotypes. Fioriella marianii associates with Quercus ilex L, while F. meunieri with Q. cerris L. (Kieffer 1897-1901, 1902a, 19026). Fioriella marianii (Kieffer) is very rarely cited in the literature. Dalla Torre & Kieffer (1910) listed it for South Europe, particularly for Italy. Méhes (1952) found it near Kosice (Slovakia) (must be confirmed). Ambrus (1974) mentioned this species in his Hungarian cynipid gall-wasp fauna work, however, did not list it for the Hungarian fauna.
