Mahunka Oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) from Madagascar IV: new Nothrus and Damaeolus species — A study on oribatid mites collected in Madagascar is presented. Two species (Nothrus madagascarensis sp. n. and Damaeolus ocellatus sp. n.) are described. Some taxonomical notes on the relationships within their genus is given. With 6 figures. Key words: Acari, Oribatida, new species, Madagascar. INTRODUCTION I am continuously studying the oribatid species of Madagascar (Malgasy Republic) (e.g. Mahunka 1996). Prodorsum: Rostrum wide, with a distinct median slit. Surface ornamented by irregular polygonal pattern, excepting the rostral (with larger, transversal fields) and median interbothridial parts (with smaller transversal fields arranged in two longitudinal rows).
