S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 61. (Budapest, 2000)
Tephritis crepidis Hendel, 1927 — New for Hungary. Pécs, VI. 1919, 1 female, leg. Thalhammer (identifed as T. ruralis by Mihályi); Bustyaháza: Tiszapart, 5.VI.1960, 1 female, leg. Zsirkó (identified as T. ruralis by Martinovich) (HNHM). Tephritis dioscurea (Loew, 1856) — One female from Hungary, Visegrád, 12.V. (HNHM) was identified and published by Mihályi (1959) as T. dioscurea actually belongs to T. tanaceti (Hering), a new species for Hungary, see below. Tephritis divisa (Rondani, 1871) — New for Hungary. Szekszárd, 6.IX.1956, 1 female, leg. Móczár (identified by Mihályi as T. separata ssp. divisa) (HNHM). The taxonomy of the Tephritis separata-group was resolved by Merz ( 1992), who recognized 3 species, namely T. separata, T. divisa and T. mutabilis. Mihályi (1959, 1960) considered T. divisa only as a form of T. separata. Further, the localities mentioned by Mihályi (1959) for T. divisa (under the name T. conjuncta), are outside of the present limits of Hungary. Therefore, the species is recorded here for the first time from Hungary. Tephritis hendeliana Hering, 1944 —All females listed under T. hyoscyami in Mihályi (1959) actually belong to T. hendeliana, whereas the males of Jászberény and Akasztó cannot be identified properly. Therefore, the species is here recorded for the first time from Hungary. Additional material: Hungary: Bükk-fennsík, Nagymező, 26.IV. 1959, 1 female, leg. Tóth; Békés m. 24.VIII.1959, 1 female, leg. Móczár (HNHM). Tephritis hyoscyami (Linnaeus, 1758) — Only known record of this species from Hungary: Jósvafő, Tengerszem-tó, 3.VI.1992, 1 female, leg. Tóth (HNHM). As mentioned under the preceding species, all females of T. hyoscyami in Mihályi (1959) were misidentified. Tephritis tanaceti (Hering, 1956) — New for Hungary: Visegrád, 12.V, 1 female (HNHM). 77. tanaceti was only recently separated from T. dioscurea (Merz 1994). Therefore, all old specimens of that species had to be re-examined. As it could be expected, T. tanaceti, which is a widespread, but rare species in Central and Southern Europe, could be found among the numerous specimens of T. dioscurea, under which it was published by Mihályi (1959). Tephritis vespertina (Loew, 1844) — New for Hungary. Zalalövő, 18.V. 1967, 1 male, leg. Fék; BNP, Hármaskút, 2.VI.1982, 1 male, leg. Bessenyi; Sopron: Fáber-rét, 13. VI. 1977, 1 male, leg. Soós; Őriszentpéter, coll. 24. VI. 1991, ex flowerhead Hypochoeris radicata 26.VI.-3.VII. 1991, 9 maies, 8 females, leg. Merz; Budapest, Népliget, coll. 18.VI.1991, ex flowerhead Hypochoeris radicata 5.VII. 1991, 1 male, leg. Merz (ETHZ, HNHM, MHNG). It is quite surprising that this very widespread and common species in Europe had not been collected before 1967 and thus it has not been recorded from Hungary. It could even be reared from a single plant flowering at the roadside near the Botanical Department, HNHM, in the centre of Budapest. Tephritis valida (Loew, 1858) — Mihályi (1960) mentioned this species in his monograph without brackets [ ], suggesting that it had been found within the limits of present Hungary. However, Loew (1858) described this species from "Hungary" which covered the Carpathian Basin. It has not been found since then in Hungary, but it is known from several localities in Roumania. Although its occurrence in Hungary cannot be ruled out, 77. valida should be deleted from the list of Hungarian Tephritidae. Chaetorellia acrolophi White et Marquardt, 1989 — This species was described partly based on specimens from Hungary (White and Marcquart 1989): Budapest, Júlia-
