Material examined — Holotype: Madagascar, Antananarivo, 27 March 1980 from Xylocopa sp. (Anthophoridae: Xylocopinae); two paratypes, the same data as in holotype; MNHWU. Remarks: S. (S.) herminae sp. n. is especially similar to S. (S.) congoicola Fain and S. (S.) elseni Fain, both from Zaire. It differs from S. congoicola in shorter setae see (62-72 to 102 urn), sternum (12-16 to 30-40), Ä 3 (60-84 to 100-110), claws I (18-20 to 27) and non-foliate long setae on tarsi I—II; from S.(S.) elseni it differs in very short vi (3-4 to 15-18).
