FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LX 1999 pp. 57-59 Sennertia herminae sp. n. (Acari, Astigmata: Chaetodactylidae) a phoretic mite associated with Xylocopa sp. (Hymenoptera: Anthophoridae) from Madagascar — A new species based on hypopi: S. (Sennertia.) herminae sp. n. found on Xylocopa sp. from Madagascar is described. New locality for S. (Spinosennertia) argentina Vitzthum is given. INTRODUCTION Mites of the genus Sennertia Oudemans are mainly associated with bees of the family Anthophoridae, subfamilies Xylocopinae and Ceratininae, and also with the family Megachilidae. Some species were described from the accidental hosts such as Apis mellifera L. and undetermined rat (Fain 1981, 1982; Baker and Delfmado-Baker 1983; Lombért et al. 1987). In this paper one untypical host is given. Until now 52 species have been described, mainly from their phoretic hypopi. Postdeutonymphal instars, for seven species, have been described. In this paper a new species of Sennertia from Madagascar is described. New locality for S. (Spinosennertia) argentina Vitzthum is given. Terminology for dorsal setae and chaetotaxy follows Grandjean (1939) and O'Connor (1996). All measurements are expressed in micrometers (uni). Holotype is deposited in the Museum of Natural History, Wroclaw University (MNHWU), paratype in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest Sennertia (Sennertia) herminae sp. n. Hysterosomal shield 166 long in holotype, 160-190 in paratypes, 98 wide in holotype, 84-106 in paratypes. Whole shield punctate with striae. Posteromedian sclerite 34, 26 long. Setae see, c 2 , c v d 2 and e 2 long and smooth. The remaining setae very short.
