b. Some of the species subsequently described by Endrődy-Younga (1968) were also partly placed into synonymy (e.g. Hydraena csikii Endrődy-Younga, 1968 - Hydraena hungarica Rey, 1884). 3. Species not mentioned by Endrődy-Younga (1967). a. Species described since 1967 (e.g. Helophorus paraminutus Angus, 1986). b. The resurrection of formerly synonymic names (e.g. Hydrochus angustatus Germar, 1824 - Hydrochus flavipennis Küster, 1852). 4. Names used incorrectly. Endrődy-Younga (1967) used some names in sense different from the current view. E.g. Limnebius picinus (Marsham, 1802) sensu Endrődy-Younga (1967) actually refers to Limnebius atomus (Duftschmid, 1805). On the other hand, the name of Limnebius picinus (Marsham, 1802) is a synonym of Limnebius nitidus (Marsham, 1802). 5. Some of the species not listed from Hungary were found since then (e.g. Hydraena nigrita Germar, 1824). 6. Species occurring outside the present borders of Hungary. a. Since our paper deals with species occurring within the present borders of Hungary, we omitted those species which were mentioned by Endrődy-Younga (1967) from other parts of the Carpathian Basin, or even from Croatia. In other cases we could not find any voucher specimen of some species, consequently, these species are marked as being expected only (e.g. Limnebius furcatus Baudi, 1872). b. When a new species was separated from an older one, the original name holding species may have been found far from our borders. The situation is similar when a former infraspecific name is elevated to species level. E.g. Ochthebius exsculptus Germar, 1824 has to be deleted from the list, while its former subspecies Ochthebius melanescens Dalla Torre, 1877 occurs in Hungary (earlier O. exsculptus var. melanescens Dalla Torre, 1877).
