FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LX 1999 pp. 125-152 Checklist of the Hungarian bug fauna (Heteroptera) E. Kondorosy Checklist of the Hungarian bug fauna (Heteroptera) —An up-to-date checklist of the Hungarian Heteroptera fauna is presented after about 100 years. At that time from the recent territory of Hungary 609 species were recorded, while the present number of registered species is 836. A new synonym is established (Stemodontus hungaricus Halászfy, 1956 = S. binodulus Jakovlev, 1893). INTRODUCTION Since Horváth (1900, 1907) no checklist has been published about the Hungarian bug fauna, though a lot of further bug species were detected in Hungary by Géza Horváth himself, later by Benedek, Rácz, Vásárhelyi, Kondorosy and others. There is some problem with the data of Stichel (1957-59). His data from Hungary are often definitely erroneous (e. g. species not living north of Dalmatia). The author thinks that Stichel has probably worked only with Horváth 's data, although a lot of species were published from localities, today outside the Hungarian borders (see Kondorosy, 1997). Therefore the author ignores Stichel's data in this checklist. After the scientific name of the species the common synonyms (if there is any) and the first reference of occurrence of the species within the present boundaries of Hungary are given.
