ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LIX 1998 pp. 141-143 Andricus gallaeviscosus: a new combination to replace Andricus dentimitratus (Rejtő) and Andricus viscosus (Nieves-Aldrey) (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) G. Melika and Gy. Csóka Andricus gallaeviscosus: a new combination to replace Andricus dentimidratus (Rejtő) and Andricus viscosus (Nives-Aldrey) (Hymenopetra: cynipidae) - We propose the name Andricus gallaeviscosus (Fairmaire, 1882) for an oak cynipid gallwasp species currently known under two names Cynips glutinosa Gir. var. dentimitrata Rejtő, 1887 ( = Andricus dentimitratus) and Andricus viscosus (Nieves, 1985). We provide taxonomic support for our proposal, describe the galls of this species, and summarise what is known of its host-plant affiliation and geographical distribution. Andricus floridus Tavaraes, 1918 - the bisexual generation - is a syn. nov. to Andricus gallaeviscosus (Fairmaire, 1882). Andricus gallaeviscosus (Fairmaire, 1882), comb.nov. Taxonomic status Names: Cynips gallae-viscosae Fairmaire 1882: 43. Galls. Cynips glutinosa Gir. var. dentimitrata Rejtő 1887: 49. Galls. Adleria mayri (Kieffer) - Rohwer and Fagan 1917: 359. Cynips dentimitrata (Rejtő) - Bálás 1941: 59. Cynips mayri Kieffer 1897: 122. Females and galls. Andricus dentimitratus Rejtő - Ambrus 1974: 99. Galls. Andricus viscosus (n. comb.) - Nieves-Aldrey 1985: 117. Andricus viscosus (Nieves, 1985) - Nieves Aldrey 1987: 184. Adults were described by Kieffer (1897) as Cynips mayri and were later listed under this name (Kieffer 1897-1901, Dalla Torre and Kieffer 1910). Rohwer and Fagan (1917) erected a new genus Adleria for the species of Cynips (sensu Authors, not Linnaeus). The genus name Adleria was proposed unnecessarily. Benson (1953) synonymized Adleria with Andricus and, thus, Cynips mayri (Kieffer1897) became a homonym to a pre-existing species, Andricus mayri Wachtl, 1879. Nieves-Aldrey (1985) revealed this homonym and proposed a new name for the species; Andricus viscosus n. comb. He later gave the author of this species as Andricus viscosus (Nieves, 1985) (Nieves Aldrey 1987), which is incorrect, however. This species was described by Fairmaire (1882), on the basis of gall material only, as Cynips gallaeviscosae. According to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (articles 17b and 23f), descriptions of species made before 1930, and which are based on a structure
