Helconidea Viereck, 1914 Hedqvist (1967) ranged three species in this genus out of which two decades later (Van Achterberg 1987) one (H. spinator) proved to represent the genus Wroughtonia. Van Achterberg (1987) assigned four species in this genus of which one was described (from France) by him as new species (H. meridional is) and one was described by Tobias in 1986 (i.e. after Hedqvist's revision) under the name H. miroshnikovi. In Hungary two Helconidea species were detected so far; perhaps at least one of the further two species indicated before will be found in our fauna too. Helconidea dentator (Fabricius, 1804) {^Helcon aequator Nees, 1814; ^Helcon armator Marshall, 1897; =Helcon rugator Ratzeburg, 1848) - In the Carpathian Basin distributed and frequent in the mountain / high mountain districts (III/1-5, Slovakia and Transylvania); in Hungary less frequent. In Europe widely distributed (Shenefelt 1970: 197, Van Achterberg 1987: 273). In Hungary (locality Rábagyarmat) Győrfi (1959: 63) reared from the cerambycid larva Callidium aeneum DeGeer (host's foodplant Pinus sil­vestris). - Localities: 7/7: 1 d: Borosjenő (=Ineu, Transylvania). 1 d: Nagyvárad (=Ora­dea, Transylvania). Helconidea ruspator (Linnaeus, 1758) - Widely distributed in the Palaearctic Region (Shenefelt 1970: 200; Hedqvist 1967: 138; Van Achterberg 1987: 275); in Hun­gary found in a single locality so far. - Localities: HI/1 (Slovakia): 1 ci: Kassa (=Kosice).
