DISCUSSION The vague systematics, especially of the genus Ectobius, is the reason of the incorrect determination and consequently incorrect published data. Where was necessary many older data were verified, and the determination was corrected. Mafan (1956) and Cejchan (1959a, 1959/?) stated the occurrence of Ectobius lapponicus balcani (E. balcani) from Slovakia. This information was taken over by Princis (1965, 1971) and Harz (1976). Dr. Cejchan later noted, that correct determination is Ectobius erythronotus nigricans (personal communication). This information was verified in the collection of NMP. The occurrence of Ectobius balcani was confirmed from Romania only. Bazyluk (1961) stated the occurrence of Ectobius erythronotus erythronotus from Slovakia (1 9 from Trenöin, leg. Brancsik), but in this species the determination of the subspecies from female is not possible. The occurrence of this subspecies in Slovakia is
