Abdomen: with various amounts of light brown, 2nd tergite with a small, 3rd with a larger triangular fleck at hind margin in mid-line; 4-5th with a transverse band almost covering entire surface; 6-7th with a very narrow, light yellow band at hind margin; 8th tergite with a broad yellow band at hind margin; 9th entire yellow; all sterna black, broadly banded with yellow at hind margin; sawsheath clear yellow, having at its apex a stout, rounded, nearly glabrous peg; cerci yellow with long setae; hind margin of 9th tergite also with a row of long setae. Structurally the female is very similar to the male; fronto-clypeal crest indistinct, only traces perceptible in one specimen; postocellar area elongate, defined on both sides by deep sutures, suture in front rather narrow, the longitudinal dividing line is very faint, though perceptible, surface here with irregularly scattered punctures, interspaces with weak coriaceous sculpture. Antenna with 18-20 joints, apical one sometimes very small. Length (in mm): 9.0, fore wing span 10.0. New localities in the Carpathian Basin: "Kárpátalja Rahó körzet Kosztilevka Pop Ivan 1100-1300 m 4. VII. 1975." 2 females. "Kárpátalja Rahó körzet Csorna Hora Mencsul 1300 m 9. VII. 1975." 1 female. The Hungarian Kárpátalja corresponds to the Ukrainian Zakarpate, meaning the Ukrainian part of the Carpathian Basin, i.e., the western slopes of the Eastern Carpathians and the hilly regions as far as the river Tisza, while Rahó körzet means Rakhov district. Further localities in Ukraine, i.e., on the eastern slopes of the Eastern Carpathians: Jaremchansky district, Hoverla (mountain), 1400-1500 m, Pozhizheskaja, 12. VII. 1979 (7 females, 2 males); Frankovskaja district, Carpathian Nature Protection Region, 1400 m, Pozhizhevskaja, 13. VII. 1979 (4 females, 1 male); same as previous, but 1600 m (1 female, 8 males); same, but 1700 m (4 females, 1 male). According to the collector's (Dr. Valerij Ermolenko) note, all the specimens were collected on alder {Alnus viridis). Pamphilius norimbergensis Enslin, 1917 Móczár and Zombori (1973) included this species in their handbook for the identification of Hungarian sawflies within the Pamphiliidae key figuring the specific name between brackets, which means that it is a potential member of the fauna of either Hungary or the Carpathian Basin. Two Hungarian localities have been ascertained: Budapest, "Nagytétény, 1919. VI. 8" leg. A. Gammel, "Pamphilius inanitus Vill. det. Zombori 1965" 1 female; "Tata-Tóváros, 1905.", "Pamphilius alternans det. Hellén", "Pamphilius alternans Cos. det. Zombori 1965." 1 female. One more female specimen from the Carpathian Basin is now recorded from the eastern part of Rumania at Baia de Cris "Körösbánya, 920. V. 29, Diószeghy", "Coll. Z. Kiss E.", "Pamphilius alternans Cos. det. Zombori 1965".
