ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK LVII 1996 pp. 265-269 Davida gen. n. (Hymenoptera: Symphyta: Tenthredinidae: Blennocampinae) from India M. S. Saini and V. Vasu Davida gen. n. (Hymenoptera: Symphyta: Tenthredinidae: Blennocampinae) from India — Davida gen. n. is erected, described and illustrated taking Tomostethus tenuicornis Rohwer as its type species. To ascertain its position and relationship a key to the Indian genera of the subfamily Blennocampinae is also provided. INTRODUCTION Literature based facts are that prior to 1995 only eight genera of the subfamily Blennocampinae were recorded from India. Now with the first record of four genera viz. Phymatoceridea Rohwer and Pasieelsia Malaise by Saini and Vasu (1995a, 19956) and Senoclidea Rohwer and Neoclia Malaise again by Saini and Vasu (1995c in press, 1996 in press), and an addition of this new genus, the total number of Indian genera of this subfamily comes to thirteen. The type species of this new genus, i.e. Tomostethus tenuicornis Rohwer was already described from Murree (now in Pakistan) and was lying under unplaced Blennocampinae. Now with the record of this species from India its status and position was re-determined after getting its type from USNM, Washington. Comparative study reveals that this species cannot be regrouped under any old genus. Therefore, it was decided to place it under a new genus. To make it more authentic a key to the known Indian genera (including the first records) of this subfamily is provided. Type material has been returned to USNM Washington, whereas four determined specimens are deposited with Hungarian Natural History Museum, Hungary. Rest of the material mentioned in the paper is deposited at Pusha National Collection, IARI, New Delhi. Abbreviations used in text are: AWMT = apical width of metatibia, EL = eye length, IATS = inner apical tibial spur, ICD = intercenchral distance, IDMO = interocular distance at the level of median ocellus, ITD = intertegular distance, LID = lower interocular distance, OATS = outer apical tibial spur, OCL = ocello-occipital line, POL = postocellar line, UCL = oculo-occipital line, UOL = oculo-ocellar line. Davida gen. n. Type species — Tomostethus tenuicornis Rohwer, 1921. Diagnosis — Antenna long filiform; scape and pedicel each as long as apical width; segment 3 longer than 4; segments 4 and 5 equal. Clypeus not truncate; malar space of
