MACROCENTRINAE In Europe the subfamily is represented by one genus, Macrocentms Curtis. It was recently indicated (Van Achterberg et Belokobylskij 1987) that in Europe (as well as in Asia) the genus Austrozele Roman is also represented by "several new... species" and in the eastern Palaearctic Region at least one species of a third genus occurs, too (Aulacocentrum philippinense Ashmead, see also Papp 1982). Worldwide eight inacrocentrine genera are registered (Shenefelt 1969). MACROCENTRUS Curtis, 1833 Macrocentms (Amicroplus) bicolor (Spinola, 1808) - Frequent to common in the Palaearctic Region (Tobias 1986: 259). From among its many (mainly noctuid) host species in Hungary only Xylena vetusta Hübner (Noctuidae; food-plant Zea mays) in Kisbér is proved. Curtis described this species more than one-and-a-half centuries ago. After two years its description Haliday in 1835 incorrectly placed the name M. bicolor into synonymy with M. thoracicus and until 1978 it was held (e.g. Eady et Clark 1964: 111, Shenefelt 1969: 173) in this taxonomic position when Haeselbarth (1978) recognized its validity as species and, consequently, he presented the distinction between the species M. bicolor and M. thoracicus which are, in superficial view, very similar to each other and thus easy to misidentify them. Considering this new taxonomic status it seems reasonable to give a detailed list of the localities of this species indicating its distribution in the Carpathian Basin. First reported in Hungary from the Kiskunság National Park (Papp 1987/?: 320).
