sometimes divided mesally to form a pair of lateral spots; male scape longer than wide; eye and ocelli small (Fig. 42); antenno-ocular distance much greater than transverse diameter of median ocellus; mesoscutum of male with parapsidal furrows and notaulices (Fig. 42); mesopleuron without acetabular carina; scutellum flat, declivous from base to apex; trochanter of middle leg provided with a triangular (Fig. 31) or long cylindrical tubercle (Fig. 27), often slightly bent, smooth and shining, tegumentary gland skimmer always in the apical fovea; trochanter of hind leg either with a disciform, thick tubercle in inner side (Fig. 32), or with a rather thin, lamelliform copulatory tubercle covering a brush of fine setae (Fig. 28); abdominal terga with gradulus; first flagellar segment of fe­male completely differentiated from the pedicel, much longer than this; temples behind eyes with a sharp adorbital groove (Fig. 26); pygidium wholly bordered by denticles. Two genera. Genus Pauxorcula gen. n. Type-species: Apterogyna bulawayona Peringuey, 1914; by present designation. Diagnosis. Temples behind eyes with a sharp adorbital groove (Figs 26, 42); tro­chanter of middle leg provided with a triangular or cylindrical tubercle (Fig. 27); tro­chanter of hind leg with a rather thin, backward directed, blade-like copulatory tubercle covering a brush of fine setae (Fig. 28); mesoscutum of female with yellow integumental spot; pygidium wholly bordered by acute denticles. Distribution. Contains three species: 1. P. bulawayona (Peringuey, 1914) comb. n.„ both sexes known, from Basutoland, Botswana, Transvaal. 2. P. globularis (Fabricius, 1793) comb, n.; male known, from Basutoland, Capland, Transvaal. 3. P. kochi (Invrea, 1957) comb, n., male known, from Cape Province, Kenya. Genus Zarabayca gen. n. Type-species: Apterogyna miniaticornis Enderlein, 1901; by present designation. Diagnosis. Temples behind eyes without adorbital groove; trochanter of male middle leg with conical or long cylindrical, smooth tubercle (Fig. 31); trochanter of hind leg, on its inner aspect, provided with a thick, disciform, low and apically broadening tubercle (Fig. 32); female not yet associated. Distribution. Contains two species: 1. Z. miniaticornis (Enderlein, 1901), comb, n., male known, from Botswana, Cape Province, Kenya, Orange Free State, Transvaal. 2. Z perspicula (Invrea, 1957) comb, n., stat. n., male known, from Botswana, Namibia; it was described as a subspecies of the former but it is a different species.
