Macrocentrus (Macrocentrus) thoracicus (Nees, 1812) - It was recently discovered by Haeselbarth (1978) that under the name of M. thoracicus there is a second latent species described by Curtis in 1830 as M. bicolor. Further comments see at this species. A frequent Palaearctic species. In Hungary known from seven localities, reared from one host Hedya nubiferana Haworth (Tortricidae) (known from five hosts, cf. Tobias 1986: 258-259). Macrocentrus (Macrocentrus) townesi Van Achterberg et Haeselbarth, 1983 The species was recently separated (Van Achterberg & Haeselbarth 1983) from M. marginator (Nees), it was latent in this species under the name "var. 3. Wesmael". In accordance with the describers' judgement the species is nearest to M. nidulator (Nees). In its orginal description (1. c.) it was listed from several localities in England, Netherland (type locality), Denmark, France, Germany, northern Italy, Slovenia, Bulgaria, furthermore (Tobias 1986: 260) in European part of Russia and Ukraine. First reported from Hungary by Papp (1987a: 33-34). It is without doubt that the taxon in question represents a valid species, however, the specific characters involved in the original description are not consistently manifested in every specimen collected in Hungary (from ten localities ten females), e.g. (1) scape not always yellow and (2) ovipositor sheath sometimes twice as long as fore wing; it seems, contrarily, a stable distinctive feature from M. nidulator that the body of M. townesi is relatively strong and its head in dorsal view is 2.5-2.6 times as broad as long (that of M. nidulator 23-2 A times). Localities -1/1: 1 ? : Tabdi, nature reserved forest. -1/2: 1 Ç : Kám, Jeli Arborétum. 1 Ç : Pápa. - H/1: 1 ? : Budapest, Budafok. 1 Ç : Dinnyés (Lake Velence), 1 $ : Keszthely. - II/2: 1 Ç : Főt, meadow. - III/l (Slovakia): 1 d : Trencsén (= Trencin) Brezina. III/4 (Transylvania): 1 Ç : Kolozsvár, Szénafüvek (= Cluj, Finetii). - IV (Transylvania): 1 ? : Herkulesfürdő (= Baile Herculane). - V/l: 1 Ç : Gyöngyösfalu, Pöse ("Kispöse"). VI/2: 1 Ç : Zalalövő, Irsapuszta, taken with Malaise-trap. 1 ? : Zalavár, Diás (Kisbalaton). - VI-IX, collected mostly in August.
