Pakistan, Islamabad 520 m, 26.VI.1992, 10 d . Apatania amathira sp. n. (Fig. 2) Male (in alcohol). General colour dark brown. Wing membrane pale brown, hairs darker. Regardless of the unusual genital structure this is a typical Apatania according to fore wing venation. The characteristic crossvein c - rl on which the Sc terminates is present. Fore wing length is 8.5 mm. Male genitalia. Ninth abdominal segment narrow on dorsal half, broadening anteriad on the lower half of pleuron. Ventrum mostly narrow and bending below the inferior appendages. Median lobe of ninth segment reduced to a hump with two elevations. Superior appendages triangular in lateral aspect and more slender in dorsal with an additional pair of inner fingerlike processes median curving. Tenth segment visible only as a pair of heavily sclerotized up and outbending processes with broad basement. Inferior appendages unique among the genus or even in the whole subfamily. The basal segment broadly articulating with ninth segment and, which is unusual, producing a strongly developed and sclerotized branch from its basoventral corner. Second segment slender and long. Phallic apparatus very large bending almost semicircularly. Parameres filiform, longer than aedeagus, upcurved at the apex at least in glycerol. Paired endings of aedeagus with subapical ventral process bending rectangularly and bearing 5-6 teeth and two more on the endings. This is a rather perplexing to classify this species. The inferior appendages uniquely developed and the reduced processes on tenth segment as well as the structure of phallic apparatus clearly show relations to A. tenuispina Schmid described from Afganistan. Its further classification to species groups is, however, not clear. A. tenuispina was placed in the wallengreni supergroup and the stigmatella group by Schmid. I named this species according to the unusual branching on the inferior appendages. Unique in sanscrit: amathirapa.
