c, frequency of families and guilds - trunk diameter d, species and guild diversity - trunk diameter e, heavy metal burden of pine needles (Pb) - species richness (d) - species diversity and evenness (Hs, E) - guild diversity (Hg). Results In the examination, from spruce trees in 18 biotopes of the town of Szombathely, altogether 3545 individuals of 60 species, 40 genera, and 15 families were caught during the summer and the autumn catches (Szinetár 1992a). The number of species can be considered quite notable. According to the examinations of Krzizanowska (1981), as an average, only 3% of the spider species is foliage dweller. This value, evidently, is far less than the actual value, as, on its basis, considering the Szombathely findings alone, the species number of the spiders in the town would greatly surpass that of the complete Middle-European spider fauna. The high numberof species we registerted proves very well that the habitat structures, which show a great temporal stability, reproduce their diverse fauna even under artificial circumstances. A number of previous examinations proved that evergreen coniferous trees, within large areas as geographical units, even whole holarctic regions, show a great degree of conformity in relation to the guild structure of the spider community and relative frequency of guilds living on them (Mason 1992). The number of species and specimens, species richness, species diversity and evenness are shown in Table 1. Table 1.
