Dworakowska (Received February 1. 1992) A review of the Genus Helionidia Zachvatkin and Supplement on Empoascanara Distant (Auchenorrhyncha: Cicadellidae: Typhlocybinae: Erythroneurini). - Empoascanara lutea Dworakowska is transferred to the genus Helionidia Zachvatkin and so, Sawainara Ramakrishnan et Menon is recognized as a junior synonym of Helionidia Zachvatkin and not that of Empoascanara Distant. Empoascanara fonnosella Dworakowska, has been finally found to be a junior synonym of Erythroneura aland Ahmed and Helionidia aspinosa Dlabola as a junior synonym of Erythroneura longifalx Linnavuori. 8 new species of Helionidia and 4 new species of Empoascanara s. str. are described along with one new species of Bza Dworakowska, subgenus of the latter. New faunistic data are given, too. References to the part of the article concerning Helionidia Zachvatkin published before 1971 are given in the previous review of the genus (Dworakowska 1971). Similarly, these concerning Empoascanara Distant, omitted from the references in the present paper, are also found in the previous one (Dworakowska 1992). The quotations marked with the asterisk "*" contain the most useful or the only existing illustrations. The type-series of the newly described species are deposited in the institutions listed below. Curator of holotype is mentioned first at certain description. Sawainara Ramakrischnan et Ghauri, 1974 syn. n. Empoascanara lutea Dworakowska has been selected as the type-species of the genus Sawainara Ramakrishnan et Ghauri. This genus was erroneously considered as a junior synonym of Empoascanara Distant (Dworakowska 1980b). The examples from both genera illustrated in this paper are providing clues that allow to comprehend the differences between them.
