narrowing ventrally (see also arrows in figure). Malar space short, base of mandible one-third wider than length of malar space. Circular opening large, its horizontal diameter 1.5 times as long as shortest distance between margin of circular opening and eye. Head polished. - Antenna as long as body, with 28 antennomeres. First flagellomere three times as long as broad, further flagellomeres gradually shortening and indistinctly thickening so that penultimate flagellomere 1.6 times as long as broad. Mesosoma elongated, in lateral view (Fig. 3) 1.85 times as long as high. Notaulix hardly distinct. Mesosoma polished. Propodeum close around lunule rugulose. Hind femur 3.3 times as long as broad at its middle (Fig. 4). Fore wing as long as body. Pterostigma (Fig. 5) 2.4 times as long as wide, issuing radial vein from its middle, rl one-third shorter (or 0.66 times as long as) width of pterostigma, cuqul as long as r2, radial cell almost reaching tip of wing. Metasoma as long as head and mesosoma together. First tergite 1.5 times as long as wide at hind, parallel-sided, pair of spiracles before middle of tergite, moderately protruding, margin of tergite lateral from scutum narrow. Second tergite less transverse, 2.1 times as wide behind as long medially; suture between tergites 2-3 faintly bisinuate. Further tergites more transverse. Somewhat more than fore half of scutum and fore half of second tergite medially and longitudinally unovenrugulose, otherwise tergites polished. Ovipositor sheath as long as body. Hypopygium surpassing last tergite, somewhat pointed (Fig. 7). Ground colour of body black. Circular opening and mandible reddish yellow. Palpi brownish with yellowish tint. Antenna black. Tegula black. Scutum of first tergite blackish, behind brownish, otherwise tergites 1-2, base of tergite 3 and further tergites laterally yellow, tergite 2 medially with brownish suffusion. Ground colour of legs yellow with much brownish suffusion on coxae, femora and distal twothirds of tibiae. Wings brownish fumous, its distal third subfumous to subhyaline. Variabilities - Besides the female neotype a series of thirty-eight specimens (27 9 9 + 11 33) served for the redescription of B. (L.) strobilorum. The specimens are similar to the neotype, any deviation is considered as infraspecific variability of which some are summarized below: 1. Body 3-4.2 mm long (3: 3 33, 3.1: 1 9, 3.2: 1 9, 3.3: 1 9 + 1 ó\ 3.5: 1 9 + 2 ââ, 3.6: 1 9 + 1 â, 3.8: 3 9 9 + 1 â, 3.9: 3 9 9 + 2 ââ, 4: 10 9 9 + 1 â, 4.1:4 9 9,4.2:2 9 9). 2. Antenna with 24-30 antennomeres (24: 1 3, 26: 1 9 + 1 â, 27: 4 9 9 + 1 â, 28: 3 9 9, 29: 3 9 9 + 1 d, 30: 1 9; 1 9: right antenna 28 and left antenna 29, 1 9; right antenna 29 and left antenna 30). Antenna of 20 specimens (12 9 9 + 8 ââ) are damaged. 3. Head cubic, in dorsal view 1.28-1.76 times, usually 1.3-1.5 times, as broad as long (1.28: 1 9 + 1 â, 1.3: 1 9, 1.32: 1 9, 1.34: 1 9 + 1 ó\ 1.35: 1 9 + 1 ó\ 1.36: 1 9 + 1 â, 1.37: 2 9 9, 1.38: 1 9, 1.39: 1 9, 1.4: 2 9 9, 1.42: 19 + 13, 1.44: 1 9, 1.45: 1 9 + 1 â, 1.46: 1 â, 1.5: 3 9 9, 1.52: 2 9 9, 1.55: 2 9 9, 1.57: 1 â, 1.63: 1 , 1.76: 1 9). Eye usually as long as temple (13 9 9 + 4 â â) or temple 1.05-1.22 times as long as eye (8 9 9 + 3 3 3) or, rarely, eye 1.04-1.1 times as long as temple (299 + 13). 4. Hind femur 2.85-3.6 times, usually 3-3.3 times (9 9) and 3.3-3.6 times (ââ) as long as broad (2.85: 1 9, 3: 9 9 9, 3.2: 3 9 9, 3.3: 6 9 9 + 2 33, 3.45: 1 9, 3.46: 1 9,3.5:2 99 + 3 33,3.6:2 99 + 4 33). 5. Veins r2 as long as cuqul (14 9 9 + 3 33), or cuqul 1.04-1.25 times as long
