Sphenopterina Lac. Chrysobothrini C.G. Agrilinae C.G. Thus, my attempt to clarify the systematic position of Maoraxia Obb. has resulted in a reassessment of the Buprestid classification as a whole. I have not made any special survey of the high-level taxonomy of jewel-beetles, so my proposals are surely not "polished up": what I present here, is but a kind of sketch, a vague outline of an idea - or rather a collection of ideas - which have accumulated as a "by-product" of my other works on Buprestidae Leach. Nevertheless, I decided to publish it in the present form, because: 1. it is rather improbable - due to the multitude of other projects - that I will be able to "polish it up" in the foreseeable future; 2. I do really think, that the proposed arrangement makes sense; 3. without an outline of the general system, it would be very difficult to explain my views concerning Maoraxiina Hoi. ; and, last but not least, 4. my proposal is surely sufficiently different from those currently "en vogue" to have a good chance to cause a stir: maybe, my "crazy ideas" will make somebody so vexed, that he will try to prove their untenability
