FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLIX 1988 p. 157-166 Eight new Agapetus from Vietnam (Trichoptera, Glossosomatidae) * By J. OLÁH (Received November 15, 1987) Abstract: Eight new Agapetus species from Vietnam are described and figured with detailed genital drawings: Agapetus (Synagapetus) dangorum sp. n., A. (S.) gotgian sp. n., A. (S.) desom sp. n., A. (S.) danbang sp. n., A. (S. ) kong- canxing sp. n., Agapetus (Agapetus) caimoc sp. n., A. (A. ) barang sp. n., A. (A.) halong sp. n. This is my second paper published on the caddisflies of Vietnam from the material which I have collected during three trips in this still very neglected area. The details of the first two collecting trips, methods, routes, localities are published (MAHUNKA and OLÁH 1986; MÉSZÁROS et al. 1987; OLÁH 1987)or are under preparation (MATSKÁSI et al. 1987) f The classification of Agapetus genus is unsettled, even recently new species appear under the generic name of Agapetus Curtis ór Synagapetus McLachlan, although the genus Synaga petus was reduced to subgenus level by ROSS (19 56) and this was confirmed also by SCHMID (1959). The criteria for subdividing Agapetus into three subgenera are, however, different at the two authors. ROSS differentiates Agapetus s. str. from Synagapetus by the presence of internal pouch on the fifth abdominal sternite. SCHMID emphasizes the importance of hind, wing venation. All species having Sc short and Rj apex absent on hind wing with or without internal pouch belong to Agapetus s.str. according to his arguments. We accept his suggestion in this paper. Actually all the eight species described here belong to ROSS's "rudis" group of Synapagetus subgenus. Five species with long Sc and R^ apex present ( A. dangorum. A. gotgian. A. desom, A. danbang , A. kongcanxing) to the "mitis " subgroup and three species with short Sc and Ri apex absent (A. caimoc, A. barang , A. halong) to the "rudis" subgroup^ If we accept SCHMID's arguments we must transfer these three species to subgenus Agapetus s. str. Our preliminary comparative study on the available material and published figures j and descriptions suggest to transfer the whple " rudis " subgroup from Agapetus (Synagapetus) subgenus to Agapetus (Agapetus) subgenus, j The status of some poorly described species of this subgroup remained obscure and needs a comprehensive study. Agapetus dangorum sp. n. (Fig. 1) Male (in alcohol). General colour medium brown with darker brown tergites and sternites on the abdomen. Wing membrane brown, hairs darker. On fore wing small whitish hyailine area along the costal ending of Sc, along cross-vein r-m linking Rg and Mj + 2» along upper half of cross-vein m-cu between Mg +4 and Cuj and along the costal ending of Cu^.
