the Mycetophagidae, but 5-5-4. Consequently, Triphyllia must be ejected from the latter family. Furthermore, based on a number of characters, this genus belongs in Tetratomidae. The 3-jointed club of the 11-segmented antennae, frontal edge poorly projecting over the j base of the antennae, almost not or poorly emarginate eyes, considerably flattened side margins of the pronotum and exceedingly small dot-like impressions in front of the latter's ; base (unlike the situation observed in Pisenus Casey, 1900), confused punctuation of the elytra, transverse coxae 1 open posteriorly and devoid of trochantine - all this allows to al-t locate Triphyllia within the tribe Pisenini and regard it as a senior subjective synonym of j the North American Eupisenus Casey, 1900 (n. syn. ! ). In other words, Triphyllia Reitter, 1898 (= Eupisenus Casey, 1900) is to be transferred from Mycetophagidae into Tetratomidae (n. comb. !) and treated as oligotypical, with T koenigi Reitter, 1898 from western and central Transcaucasia, and T. elongata (Casey, 1900) (n. comb. !) from northern North America.
