two weeks until they died. The leaves were examined under dissecting microscope and those containing eggs were saved. Since eggs deposited in the plant tissue, the total number of eggs laid per female wad determined indirectly by counting the number of nymphs that emerged. The average number that hatched from eggs deposited by 10 females was 180 and 200 for S. aemulans and S. marginatus respectively. It is worth to metion that the winter is apparently spent in the egg stage, since nymphs were always the first instar to appear in the spring and adults were not observed until the mid of May. Laboratory rearing confirmed the findings of HEGAB and JENSER (1982) who showed that S. aemulans has two generations in a year. Table 1.
