corners, posterior margin nearly straight, only very slightly emarginated and shallowly Impressed, surface shagreened with deep and larger punctures than on head (fig. 70), longitudinal furrow deep. Mesonotum moderately shining with scattered smaller punctures, parapsidal furrow well developed, notaulices very deep and sharp margined, longitudinal furrow long, deep and remarkably broader posteriorly (fig. 67). Scutellum with some larger scattered punctures and with a small longitudinal sulcus in front medially, this deepening reaching sometimes to postnotum. Propodeum short, half diameter transversally before spine only 1.1 times broader than its length medially (22 : 20), lateral margins slightly diverging backwards, spines strong but relatively short, propodeum 2-2.71 times longer medially than spines (exceptionally only 1.85 times) (on holotype 2.22 times, 20 : 9), acute (viewed from above or from side), right spine of the largest paratype slightly obtuse not acute. All carinae and areas developed, sublateral areas with very fine wrinkles especially anteriorly. Lateral sides of propodeum finely transversally wrinkled excepting the parallel wrinkles along upper and posterior margins which fuse before basis of spine. Episternum coarsely punctured with a deep and broad furrow transversally below tegulae. Abdomen smooth, shining, tergite 1 polished and with fine and very fine scattered punctures in the two-thirds horizontal part, partly laterally, tergite 2 finely shagreened basally, densely and distinctly punctured medially (fig. 68), scattered posteriorly and very densely laterally, interspaces smaller than punctures laterally, along the whole lateral margin with a broad unpunctured and polished area (cf. fig. 44). Tergites 3-5 with dense and distinct punctures and with a semicircular Impression medially on posterior margin. Sternite 2 with very deep and scattered punctures medially (fig. 69), gradually becoming denser laterally. - a, - Unknown. Holotype: £ "Sri Lanka: Ham.Dist. Móczár, 1970 (reported from the Ethiopian territory: South Africa), differs from it by tergite 2 without fine and scattered punctures, by pronotum without rounded anterior angles, by mesonotal furrow not consisting of three larger punctures, by propodeum not being dark reddish brown and not being partly black, etc. I name this species in honour of the outstanding hymenopterologist Dr. Arnold S. MENKE, Systematic Entomology Laboratory, USDA, Washington. Sulcomesitius brevis sp. n. o_ . - Length 3.2 mm. Yellowish red, antennái joints 5-10, excepting lower light brown side and abdomen, black, mesonotum as well as larger part of central and sublateral areas of propodeum darker reddish, femora and tibiae partly brown. Wings normal, reaching beyond tergite 2, fore wings brown Infuscated, with lighter basis and a sharply margined hyaline band outside of cells, veins dark brown, pterostigma brown with hyaline basis. Body, antennae sparsely covered with white hairs. Head nearly as broad as long (40 : 41), distinctly broadened behind eyes (fig. 71), eyes separated from occipital margin by nearly an eye-length (14 : 15), lateral sides of head converging arcuately when viewed from above (fig. 71), occipital carina narrow; ocelli in a weak acute angle, with a shallow groove before their outer margins, hind ocelli situated distinctly nearer to each other than to eyes, POL:OOL = 7:10; frontal sulcus absent; frons shagreened, weakly shining, only shallowly punctured; eyes very convex, slightly longer than broad (15 : 13), eyes separated from mandibles by a slightly greater distance than half of its length (fig. 73); anterior margin of clypeus arcuately protruding and raised in a sharp and high longitudinal keel medially; antennae short, only joints 1-3 slender, flagellum thickened medially, scape nearly as long as joints 2-5 combined, joints 2-3 distinctly longer than broad, 4-10 broader than long, 5-9 of equal size, 11-12 rectangular, length (and breadth) proportions of antenna! joints 1-13 = 19(5.5): 6(4): 6(5): 4(5): 4(6): 4(6): 4(6): 4(6): 4(6): 4(5): 4(4): 3.5(3.5): 6(3.5). Pronotum 1.47 times broader than long (28 : 19) with rectangular lateral corners (fig. 71), lateral sides concave, posterior margin nearly straight, surface slightly shining, finely shagreened with larger, rather dense and not deep punctures (fig. 71), longitudinal furrow very narrow, not reaching to posterior margin. Mesonotum with small punctures, parapsidal furrow present, notaulices very deep, longitudinal furrow rather short, posteriorly
