and individuals. The method of setting the light trap next to the shore resulted in twice as many species as the 13 published from the Austrian side of the lake so far (in: LÖFFLER, H. ed 1979). It must be noted here that all the species collected on the Austrain side were also represented in our material. A further point of interest is the large number of Hydropsyche species occurring. Five out of the nine species of Hydropsyche definitely known from Hungary were also caught by the light trap at Fertő (ÚJHELYI, 1982). The most common species among these was Hydropsyche contubernalis McL. Larvae of Hydropsyches, however, have not been found in either the lake or the Rákospatak stream flowing into the lake. Therefore the common occurrence of Hydropsyche species may be explained by the vicinity of the "Voralpengebietes", One paper on the flight pattern of the frequent aquatic insects of lake Fertő has already been published (ANDRIKOVICS, 1981). The more detailed trichopterological studies have substantiated the findings of the previous study, namely that several Trichoptera species have one generation, while other species, for example Llmnephilus affinis, have two generations a year.
