FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLIII. 1. 1982 p. 151-154 A new species of the genus Nebria Latr. (Coleoptera, Carabidae) from the Altai By V. G. SHILENKOV (Received November 24, 1981) Abstract: A new beetle species: Nebria (Boreonebria) kaszabi sp.n. is described from the Altai. Through the kindness of Dr. Z. KASZAB I had the opportunity to Investigate an interesting material from Asia housed in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. My study resulted in a new species from the Altai, belonging to the subgenus Boreonebria Jeann. It is closely related to Nebria schrencki Gebl.-group, which was recently revised (SHILENKOV 1975, 1976). Representatives of this group inhabit the mountains of Central Asia and Siberia from the Tian-Shan to Hamar-Daban and the Mongolian Altai, but were not known from the Altai itself. Most of the species live in high altitude, mainly near glaciers and snow spots, and being rather local. It seems that some of the species of this group must live in the Altai mountains. The first of them is described below. Nebria (Boreonebria) kaszabi Shilenkov, sp.n. Dark piceous to black, femora dark brown, apical parts, base of tibiae, tarsi and extremities of antenna! segments 1-6 reddish brown. Head normal, with rather prominent eyes, frontal furrows very shallow and smooth; submentum with a transverse row of 10 or 12 setae (some setae absent), mental tooth short and wide, strongly emarginate at apex; penultimate segment of labial palpi trisetose. Antennae (fig. 13) thin and long, almost extending middle of elytra, first antennái segment weakly thickened, scarcely shorter than segment 3, with 2 setae from above, segment 2 with 1 seta beneath, segment 3 with 6-7 setae at apex. Pronotum (fig. 3) moderately cordiform, feebly convex, 1.22 times as wide as head, 1.38 times as wide as long, feebly rounded at sides, slightly sinuated before rectangular hind angles; front angles moderately protruded, rounded at apex; lateral margins narrow and weakly reflexed; median line faint, transversal impressions distinct but shallow; basal fovea rather short and narrow; front margin with a few minute punctures, basal area rather coarse but sparsely punctate, lateral sides with oblique transverse wrinkles. Elytra oblong-oval, transversally depressed in its fore third, 1.38 times as wide as pronotum, 1.65 times as long as wide, widest in its hind third; shoulders strongly reduced but distinct; lateral sides regularly rounded and slightly emarginate before apex; basal border hardly curving and evenly turning into lateral border without angle; striae strong, with distinct punctures: scutellar striole long; intervals somewhat convex, without discal pores, only interval 3 before apex with one small pore asymmetrically; scutellar pores absent; apical carina very weak. Hind wings entirely reduced. Lateral sides of pro-, meso- and metathorax, as well as sternites 1-2 with a few vague punctures; prosternai process bordered at sides; metepisterna 1.56 times longer than wide;
