Some zoogeographical considerations of the Plusiinae fauna of Korea The Korean Peninsula is part of the Mandchurian subregion of the Palaearctic Region, with a specially transitive character. For a more exact evaluation, a knowledge of the fauna of the Pacific- zone is also necessary: of Japan (ICHENOSE 1962, INOUE 1958), Kamchatka and Sakhalin (ZHOLOTARIENKO 1976), the Kurili Islands (ZHOLOTARIENKO et al. 1974), and the Primorye (KONONENKO 1977). Already BRYK has established that the northern and southern parts of the peninsula are satisfactorily separable. The northern part, of a high montane character, is characterizable by the preponderance of Eastern Siberian elements, while the southern part displays features related to the fauna of Japan, the infiltration of Oriental elements is rather significant. Fig. 1. Female genitalia of Autographa sp. (Prov. Ryang-gang, Hyesan, room of Hotel Hyesan, No. 290, 25.VII.1975; Gen. prep. No. 112, L. Ronkay). Fig 2. Female genitalia of Autographa jota L. (NE Hungary, Zemplén Mts., Rostalló, 18.VII. 1974, leg. Szabóky Cs.; Gen.prep. No. 270, L. Ronkay). Concerning the Plusiinae fauna, a distinct zone of intermingling extends in the middle of the peninsula and also along the foothills of the northern mountainous ranges. It can be safely stated that the majority of the Eastern Siberian elements is bound to the higher elevations, while the Holopalaearctic and Oriental species are less characterizable by special habitats: they are absent from, or appear in meagre numbers in, only the northernmost montane terrain. The composition of the fauna according to distribution types is as follows: 7 Holopalaearctic species (among them, A. gamma being also a migrant), 4 Eastern Palaearctic species ( A. nigrisigna , mandarina , ex-
