finely punctured and pubescent, narrowing a little at the apex. Legs spinose especially the tibiae. Length 7 mm. Holotype 8 unique, Musa 19.8.1975 (light) (R. Hornabrook). Species having two rows of six punctures on the pronotum Philonthus gorokaensis sp. n. This species in very similar to Philonthus karlmuensis Last, in size, and the puncturation of the elytra, and also jn the structure of the aedeagus (Fig, 12) the paramere is broader with few "pegs"; it differs by the more slender antennae with the apical segments not so strongly transverse and with the last three or four segments black or dusky compared with those of karl­ muensis which are cream coloured . The scutellum much less punctured, and the tergites more densely and finely punctured. Black, except the femora which are yellow, tibiae and tarsi piceous.
