Head, pronotum and abdomen black, antennae black except the last two segments which are creamy-white, legs black except a central section of the intermediate and posterior tibiae which is yellowish, anterior tibiae completely black, elytra shining green. Head broader than long (6.5:4.25), shining, with a few large .umbilicate punctures near the inner margins of the eyes and on the temples from which are long bristles; eyes not convex, their longitudinal diameter longer than the temples; surface without microsculpture; first segment of the antennae longest, the second shorter than the third, segments from the fourth shortening and broader, seven to ten broader than long, last segment longer than the penultimate, asymmetrically acuminate at apex; all segments with black setae. Pronotum a little longer than broad, shining, without microsculpture, with two longitudinal rows of four umbilicate punctures, others smaller in size laterally with strong bristles; almost parallel-sided, more convex at anterior margin. Elytra as broad as long, strongly and evenly punctured, shining, without microsculpture, with short setae, and longer lateral bristles, suture strongly raised and bordered. Scutellum densely punctured, with a few setae. Abdomen dull, with open-ended punctures and setae, paratergites with long bristles; narrowing to the apex. Legs strongly setose and spinose. Length 10 mm (Aedeagus Figs v 20 and 21). Holotype 8, Goroka 10.11.1977 (R. Hornabrook). Paratype o, West High Province 1600 m Kuk T.R.S. Mount Hägen 4.11.1976 (B.M. Thistleton) ex: Brassica oleracea Var. caitata - Comm. Inst.Ent. B.M. 1977-1. Hesperus conciliatus sp.n. This species differs from H. tricolor Cam., by the less dense puncturation of the elytra, the punctures which in tricolor are confined to the anterior third, are placed more normally in two rows of three punctures each; the elytra are of a bluish-green, whereas in tricolor they are a bright pea-green. Black, except the head and pronotum which are blue-black, elytra brighter blue-green, antennae with last three segments creamy-white. Head broader than long, moderately shining, with large umbilicate punctures around inner margins of the eyes and on temples; eyes not convex, their longitudinal diameter half the length of the temples from which are a few porrect bristles; vertex broadly very weakly depressed, with a fine but distinct circular alutaceous microsculpture, antennae with first eight segments longer than broad, segments nine and ten almost quadrate, last segment longer than the penultimate, bluntly acuminate, all segments setose. Pronotum about as broad as long, moderately shining, with two rows of three large punctures and others with erect bristles at anterior corners, with a very fine elongate microsculpture upon which are scattered extremely fine "pint-point" punctures, a narrow central sulcus which is a little deeper towards posterior margin, where the lateral margins narrow. Elytra a little longer than broad, shining, moderately densely punctured interspersed with larger punctures, and with lateral bristles. Scutellum finely punctured and pubescent, with a fine microaculpture. Abdomen rather strongly but not densely punctured, the punctures becoming elongate, with rather strong bristles, also with an extremely fine microsculpture; strongly narrowing to the apex. Legs with setae, bristles and spines, the first segment of the intermediate and posterior tarsi more robust than the following segments. Length 16 mm (Aedeagus Figs. 22 and 23). Holotype 5 unique, Daulo Pass, Asato-Chimbu Divide, 16.10.1971 (R . Hornabrook). Hesperus huonensia sp.n. Thia species is of the same stature as H. temporatus Last, but differs in having the elytra much more strongly punctured and the last segments of the antennae are fuscus. The puncturation of the elytra is very similar to that of H. plumbeus Last, i.l. , but the antennae segments are longer; from H. setosua Cam., it alao differs by the longer all black antennae, and it does not have the very long bristles of that species. Shining black, except last segments of the antennae and of the maxillary palpi which are fuscus. Head broader than long (9:7), shining, without microsculpture, puncturation confined to one or two large punctures near the inner margins of the eyes and on the temples, with a few long porrect bristles, eyea not very convex, their longitudinal diameter equal to the length of the templea, antennae long with all segmenta longer than borad, laat segment a little longer than the penultimate, all segments with long bristles. Pronotum a little longer than broad, ahining, without microaculpture, two elongate rows each of four large punctures, with othera at the anterior cornera and on lateral margins, with long robuBt bristles, sub-parallel-sided, a little narro-
