FOLIA XLI (XXXIII); 2. Rudebeckocoris fabiani sp. n. from Ghana (Heteroptera: Reduviidae) By T. VÁSÁRHELYI (Received December 1, 1979) Abstract: Description of Rudebeckocoris fabiani sp. n. (Reduviidae: Holoptilinae) from Ghana . Among a lot of Heteroptera collected by Dr. S. ENDRŐDY-YOUNGA in Ghana there is one of special interest, recovered from a soil trap, belonging to the genus Rudebeckocoris . MILLER (1956) described the genus on the basis of a single female specimen from Pretoria, this time I describe a male of another species new to science. Characters of generic Importance: antenna three-segmented, third joining subapically to second (Fig. 4); no lateral setae on scutellum, nor perceptible tubercles present; hemelytra do not seem to be simply "distorted", though both are roughly wrinkled, nevertheless have the same general shape with transverse vein-like ridges. It is a great pleasure to dedicate this species to Dr. Gy. FÁBIÁN, the one time "rhynchotlst", on his 65th birthday. Rudebeckocoris fabiani sp. n. (Figs. 1-4) Male, very small, body oval, antennae and legs long with long setae . Head slightly wider than long, vertex elevated, laterally angulate, with two setae medially. Postocular region elevated, flattened, with a marginal row of setae. Antenna 3-segmented with long hairs originating from tubercles, first segment short and thick, pedunculate, joining ventrally to head and peduncle curling anterodorsally, second segment longest, slightly thickening basally, setae more dense here, third segment slender, about as long as width of head across eyes. Rostrum strong, first joint longest. Pronotum 3 times as wide as long, anterolaterally rounded, posterolateral angles rounded with some hairs, hind margin slightly sinuated. Scutellum short, wide, broadly rounded, shiny dark brown, without hairs laterally. Lateral part of hemelytra relatively unwrinkled, raising medially, mediolateral part concave with some blackish transverse ridges deviding it into subequal fields, median part shiny blackish, roughly wrinkled, without veins. Legs long and slender, hind femur and tibia very long, each with setigerous tuberclesr-mostly laterally. Abdomen rounded, with two dorsal abdominal gland openings and dorsally a continuous row of tubercles along each intersegmental suture. Coloration: head, antenna, pronotum and legs dark yellowish brown, scutellum, abdomen, hind femur and tarsi blackish brown. Hemelytra hyaline, vein-like ridges and median part blackish. Measurements: length of body 2.3 mm; length of head 0.51 mm; width of head across eyes 0.67 mm; length of pronotum 0.27 mm; width of pronotum 0,,86 mm; length of hind tibia 1.9 mm, length of antenna 1.9 mm; relative length of antennái segments I to III as: 5:39:27. Holotype: d* "Ghana, Upper region, Tumu, N 10°08' - W 2°00' , Dr. S. Endrődy-Younga", "Nr. 511, soil trap, 27.X. 1971.". Deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest.
