FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLI (XXXIII). 1. 1980 P- 25-27 Studies on the Papuan Attidae (Araneae) Furculattus maxilJosus gen. et sp. n. By P. BALOGH (Received November 20, 1979) Abstract: Study of Attidae resulted in the description of a new genus and species: Furcula t tus maxi l losus gen. et sp. n. During the study of New Guineán Attidae several forms have been found which could not be relegated to any of the hitherto known taxa. Ttuïir description is important also for the fact of helping to fill in gaps in the family Attidae and thereby contribute to the evolvement of a more complete system. The description of a new gpr xa follows. Furculattus gen. n. Retromargin of chelicerae with a single, strong, pointed tooth. Sternum broadly truncate frontaiiy, there broader than base of labium. Eyes in three rows: 4-2-2, but first row strongly recurved, row ALE far behind AME: posterior margin of AME with anterior margin of ALE forming a slightly pre curving line. In frontal view, PLE somewhat longer than ALE; PME shorter than ALE. Eyes of second row nearer to ALE than to PLE. Céphalothorax high, posterior declivity very steep, concave, dorsally with a bifurcate outgrowth. Chelicera protruding, resembling that of Oedignatha (Clubionidae). Legs very thin and elongate; patella + tibia IV much longer than patella + tibia III. Legs I long: coxa and trochanter elongate, much longer than those of leg II. Sequence of legs: 1432. Type species: Furculattus maxillosus sp. n. Furculattus maxillosus sp. n. Female unknown. Male: tooth of lower cheliceral margin robust and acute; uppermargin with 2 robust and acute teeth near each other. Eye quadrangle as long as, or hardly longer than, wide and considerably longer than thoracic part. Row ALE on a smaller, row PLE on a larger, protuberance. PME (= eyes of second row) minute, situated on posterior margin of black spot emitted from tubercle of row ALE. In frontal view, frons very low beyond AME, about as high as half radius of AME. Rows AME meeting medially. In lateral view, surface of céphalothorax slightly convex, its bifurcate outgrowth auriculiform, erect to reclinate. Céphalothorax with dense foveolae.
