FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (SERIES NOVA) XXXII. 2. 1979 p. 3142 A check-list of Thysanoptera of Hungary By G. JENSER (Received December 15, 1978) Abstract: A list of 192 species of Thysanoptera is given for Hungary of which Thrips lini Ladureau and Haplothrips cerealis Priesner are new to the Hungarian fauna. The species Melanthrips fuscus Maltbaek, Aelothrips fasciatus Linné, Seri- cothrips staphylinis Haliday, Odontothrips biuncus John, Rhaphidothrips longistylo- sus Uzel, Taeniothrips federovi Priesner, Thrips paluster Reuter, Thrips paucise- tosus Priesner, Haplothrips juncorum Bagnall and Hoplandrothrips parvicornis Uzel are deleted from our fauna. The last comprehensive "work on the Thysanoptera fauna of Hungary appeared over fifty years ago (PRIESNER, 1928b). That üst included the early data of JABLONOWSKI and BAGNALL as well as the majority of the extremely rich collecting data of PILLICH. Subsequent contributions include complementary faunistical data (PRIESNER, 1933a-b, 1936, 1938, 1939, 1950, 1964; FÁBIÁN, 1937, 1938a-c; JENSER, 1955, 1958, 1959, 1976; KLIMT, 1971). Owing to recent synonymy, descriptions of new species and the examination of the FÁBIÁN collection by Dr. G. SCHLIEPHAKE (Kothen) in 19 62 concerning the species of THRIPS, furthermore, a study of the Haplothrips species performed by Dr. K. KLIMT (Kothen), it was thought advisable to prepare an entirely new list of species. Unfortunately, the majority of the extremely valuable Thysanoptera collection of F. PILLICH perished durin'g the Second World War on which PPIESNER based many his data. Since a number of unsettled problems accumulated over the years I had to seek help at the Forschungsinstitut Senchenberg (Frankfurt am Main) where the PRIESNER collection is deposited whence I received unselfish and very valuable help from Dr. R. zur STRASSEN, for which I should most sincerely like to thank him. The distribution data of some species in Hungary need complementary notes or explanations, they are listed hereunder. Melanthrips gracilicornis Maltbaek, 1931.- PRIESNER (1936) recorded it from Hungary without a closer locality name. No specimens are known either in the Hungarian collection or in that of PRIESNER, consequently, its occurrence in the territory of Hungary is not proved. Aeolothrips fasc iatus (Linné, 1758).- The occurrence of this species is known from the reports of PRIESNER (1928a-b) and FÁBIÁN (1938a). However, the specimens in the FÁBIÁN collection proved to be A. intermedius Bagnall, 1934 separated from the species A. fasciatus as a close relative (JENSER, 1958).
