On the basis of'the original description, several authors regarded the taxon as a junior synonym of Labidura riparia (Pallas, 1773). However, without an examination of the type-specimens preserved in the Oohrn Collection all synonymization were hitherto no more than reasonable assumtions; even ; AKAI (1:20) handles it as "Synonym ?" in his Catalogue. The study of the genitalia of the male Holotype proved unequivocally that the animal represents Labidura riparia (Pallas, 1773). - Madras, India, Holotypus (gen.prep. No. 491, det. Dr. H. Most of the workers regarded it, on the basis of the description and even without having seen the type-specimens, as a junior synonym of Labidura riparia (Pallas, 1773). The SAKAI Catalogue (I: 17) treats it as "Synonym ?". The study of the genitalia of the male Typus proved unequivocally that the animal represents Labidura riparia (Pall is, 1773). - Ladák, No. 41, coll. Schlaginweit, Typus (gen. prep. No. 492, det.
