CANACEIDAE Canace nasica Haliday, 1839 - 97 Ö, 112 £: Sfax, harbour, 7 April, 1977, leg. Deb­reczy and Mahunka (No. 82); 1 S, 1 (j>: Thyna, 12 km on the Gafsa road, 7 April, 1977, leg. Mahunka (No. 83). - Distribution: seashores of the Mediterranean Sea and Europe up to the North Sea, the Canaries. SPHAEROCERIDAE Ischioleptapusilla (FaUén, 1820) - 1 o_: Skanés, park of Hotel Tanit, 19 September, 1977, leg. L. and S. Mahunka (No. 179). It is a new occurrence in Tunisia (see also BECKER, 1907 (as margaritata sp.n./, PAPP, 1978). Copromyza jr, orboriHus) niveipennis (Duda, 1923) -lő: El Kef, 27-29 March, 1977, on light of lamps, le:.'. Gozmány (No. 21); 2 <j>: Boughrara, 5 April, 1977, leg. Gozmány and Mahunka (No. 70); 1 <j>: ibid., 6 April, 1977, leg. Mahunka. - Known from the Mediterranean region, eastward to Afghanistan (see also PAPP, 1977). Coproica digitata (Duda, 1918) - 1 Ő, 1 o_: Skanés, park of Hotel Tanit, 19 Septem­ber, 1977, netted on human feces, leg. L. and S. Mahunka. - A rare coprophagous species, described from Tunisia, Egypt and Jugoslavia, known also from Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Afghanistan. (It was not found in the material of the first Tunesian expedition of our col­leagues. ) Coproica hirtula (Rondani, 1880) - 6 Ö, 6 o: Sousse, 5 km S from town, seashore, 16 September, 1977, leg. L. and S. Mahunka (No. 160); 2 6: Tozeur, 16 April, 1977, leg. Ma­hunka (No. 117). - ARnost cosmopoRtan, coprophagous species (see also PAPP, 1977). Thoracochaeta tunisica sp. n. (Figs. 1, 3) Face very short, clypeus strong, comparatively high and not hidden. Antennae wide­ly separated by the sRghtly convex facial plate. Antennae directed laterally. Third antennái joint rounded and not penicillately pilose on apex. Eyes very small and glabrous. Inner Or­bitals present but sparse (only 3 pairs), hindmost pair excRnate, anterior two pairs incRnate. Arista with moderately long pubescence. 2 ors far above eye-margin. If rows more widely separated from each other than from eye-margin. Ocellar triangle very big, covered by short interoceUars, oceRi very widely separated. OceUar bristles excRnate (!). Thin but well­discernible occe and occi pairs. Head and thorax wide, mesonotum brown and flattened dor­saUy. Thoracic chaetotaxy: 1 h, 1 anterior np, 1 weak prst, 1 posterior incRnate (!) np, 2 short sa, 1 pa, 1 presutural incRnate dc, 2 postsutural de, 1 short prsc, 2 se pairs of bristles. Only 2 rows of acmi posteriorly and 3-4 rows more anteriorly. 1 short and thin and 1 robust st. Mid tibia dorsaUy with paired bristles (pd-s more apicaUy placed than ad-s) and 1 smaller ad between them, with strong ventroapical but without anteroventral or ventral bristles at middle. Hind tibia without long erect bristles dorsally. Wings (Fig. 1) brownish, costa without long bristles perpendicular to alar plane on sections mg 2 and mg 3 , alar base with 2 strong bristles, mg^ with about 5 pairs of long and thick bristles. c x less than 1.0 or exactly 1.0. Vein r^ + g ending atwing apex and slightly downcurving (!). t a-tp/tp = 1. 69- 1.75. Anal vein weak, not geniculate. Alula not very small, apicaUy somewhat rounded. Wing mea­surements: length: holotype male: 1.03 mm, paratypes: 1.01- 1.38 mm; width: holotype male: 0. 47 mm, paratypes: 0. 47 - 0. 62 mm. Abdominal tergites and sternites brown without long bristles. Male 6th sternite weak with a few black thornlets. Surstylus (Fig. 3) with a blunt medial thorn and a moderately long, proximoventrally dnrected process. Bristles on surstylus not very long. Female cerci directed downwards.
