S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 31/1. (Budapest, 1978)

Ventral side (Fig. 37): Solenidia of gnathosoma (Fig. 40) long, infracapitulum approximately oblong, but much shorter than tibia of leg I. Apodemes of frontal sternal plate short, neither ap. sa., nor ap. 2 reaching arch of sejugal apodemes. On posterior sternal plate ap. sp. reaching sejugal apodemes without interruption. Epimeres 1, 3 and 4 carrying well-developed, large sucking discs. Those on epimeres 1 and 3 situated just above apodemes and very close to ap. sp. Adhering plate near body end normally developed. Legs: Adhering hair of leg I (Fig. 38) minute, petiole shorter than adhering surface. Tibiotarsal group of solenidion of 4 members, all being long, no significant difference in length among them apparent. Solenidion ^ od leg II (Fig. 39) articulating in basal half of tibia (! ! ), directed laterally. Legs III and IV (Figs. 41-42) bearing long end-hairs, those on leg III somewhat longer. Material examined: Holotypus: No. 3920: Ecuador; 1 paratype: from the same locality. Holotype: USNM; paratype (203-PA-77): HNHM. Remarks: The new species readily differs from all other known Histiostoma by the position of solenidion ^ on leg II and on sucking disc of epimere 3. Histiostoma clavifer sp. n. Measurements. - Length: 141-146 ja, breadth: 108-114 yU. Habitus: In the middle propodosoma with a coniform apex, aside of this, body obovoid in outline. Surface with scattered large punctures. Dorsal side (Fig. 43): Propodosomal hairs minute, inner pair originating in front of outer one. Hysterosomal hairs of various lengths and thicknesses, those in front part of body short, those behind long. Hair f^ at body end flattened out at apex: spatuliform. Ventral side (Fig. 44): Infracapitulum of gnathosoma (Fig. 47) short, only slightly longer than its width. Palpi not separated off. Apodemes thin, but laterally strong as is sejugal one. ap. sec. especially long, but ap. sa. ending far from transversal arc of sejugal apodemes. Epimeres 1 and 3 bearing small, 4 one larger sucking disc. Adhering plate large, well developed. Legs: Adhering hair of leg I (Fig. 45) long. Tibiotarsal group of solenidion of 4 members, longer than Solenidion (f-^ of leg II (Fig. 46) minute. Leg III (Fig. 49) bearing a claw and a simple end-hair, while leg IV (Fig. 48) bearing no claw at all, end-hair thickened and bent at apex. Material examined: Holotypus: No. 3099: Costa Rica; 3 ex. paratypes: from the same locality. Holotype: USNM; 2 ex. paratypes (204-PA-77): HNHM; 1 ex. paratype: CR. Remarks: The formation of legs IV and partly that of apodemes is in several respects very similar to the species Histiostoma banjuwangicus (Oudms. , 1911). But the solenidia of leg I of the latter is of different shape and hair L is simple. Histiostoma continuata sp. n. Measurements. - Length: 170 jd, breadth: 110ji. Habitus: Body plum-stone-shaped, widest in the middle, proximal and distal body ends very similarly apicate. Dorsal side (Fig. 50): Sides of propodosoma throughout convexly arched. Inner pair of hairs far removed in front of outer one. Frontal margin of notogaster strongly bulging forward. Dorsosejugal region with sculpture consisting of minute lines. Ventral side (Fig. 52): Gnathosoma (Fig. 51) well developed. Infracapitulum somewhat longer than tibia of leg I, contracted in the middle. Palpi short but distinctly separated. Solenidia long. Apodemes well developed, especially long and robust is ap. sa. confluent with transversal arc of sejugal apodemes. Apodemes 2 similar. Apodemes in distal sternal region also developed, ap. 4 weakly S-shaped. Epimeres 1 and 3 with well-developed sucking discs, the one on epimere 4 even larger. Adhering plate developed filling entire surface between legs IV and distal body margin.
