triangle proceeding forward medially of frons in a fine line, though not reaching frontal margin of frons; margins of eyes with broader silvery grey pruinosity. Face vivid yellow but above whitish pruinose, only lower part of antennái grooves with shining blackish brown blotch not reaching epistoma. This latter unicolorous, vivid yellow, though matt. Prelabrum also yellow but lateral margins bearing one large blackish brown blotch each, just above middle a small black dot present, entire prelabrum surrounded by white puncturation, lateral puncturation extending over dark blotches. Palpus black, its narrow basal part light yellow, its apical part both inside and outside pubescent, parafrontalia lath-like, gena also narrow, both yellowish brown, though greyish pruinose. Height of gena about one-seventh height of eye. Postgena emitting three strong black setae. Head behind, excepting postvertical small oblong ferroginous mark, black majority greyish pruinose. Frontal eyemargin bending black in an obtuse angle. Antennae originating in lower third of eyes. Lunule bare. Antennái joints 1 and 2 reddish yellow, 1st heavily pruinose; antennái joint 3, excepting apical ventral part, blackish grey, strongly pruinose. Arista finely pubescent, base only Insignificantly thickened. Thorax and scutellum black, greyish pubescent, hypopleura and scutellum smooth, rest punctured. Puncturation fine, only mesopleura with coarser and denser punctures. Posterior margin of mesopleura lighter: reddish brown, a similarly coloured fleck present on sternopleura below mesopleural suture. . Legs together with coxae brownish yellow. Femora and mid and hind tibiae with shorter-longer black stripes. Frontal and hind surfaces of fore tibiae greyish black. Tarsal joints of fore leg black, but ultimate (5th) tarsal joint yellow. Tarsal joints of mid an hind legs light; metatarsi lightest of all: yellowish white: joints 2-4 gradually becoming darker: from yellow to brownish yellow, ultimate joint again light yellow. Wing fading brownish in hue, with numerous densely spaced white maculae, latter having a large central "grain"each, and with some brown spots, especially at conjointment of radial veins and costa. Patterns of wing much resembling P. bipilosum Portschinsky, 1875. Apical part of ^+3 straight, ^+5 and m parallel, m running well above apex of wing. Ratio of m3:m4=6. 7:12. 5, ^-tpît^ 6.7:6, tp arcuate, in left wing angular, emitting 2 rudimental veins. Squama white, margin brown, thoracic squama 1.1/4 longer than alula. Haltère light yellow, its "neek" brownish. Abdomen matt black with greyish white pruinose brownish spots, latter on tergites 3 and 4 scattered, on tergite 5 denser, appearing in higher number. Tergite 4 longest of all, proportion of tergites 3-5 as 8:11:7. Ventral surface snow white. Sheath of ovipositor shining, brown, rest more or less yellow, first joint brown but both above and below greyish pruinose, though lateral margins shining brown. Cercus light yellow, base emitting 2 dorsolateral, subapically 1 dorsolateral and 1 ventrolateral hairs, two latter haris twice longer than basal ones. Body length 5.4 mm, alar length 4 mm. Male unknown. The female paratype well corresponds in all important features with the holotype, including even size. Holotypus, ? "Afghanistan, Prov. Kabul" "Kabul, Aliabad, 13. 6. 1974, 1800 m" "No. 148, L. PAPP". - Paratypus (9) "Afghanistan, Prov. Kabul" "Kabul, Darulaman, 1820 m, 18.6.1974" "No. 159, L.PAPP". The new species comes close to P.curvinerve Hendel, 1913 and P. bipilosum Portschins- . ky, 1875. However, it differs from the former by the colour of the frons, prelabrum and pleura, wing is much bigger, white spots lacking "grains" in the running of vein m, in the proportions of m3 and m4 as well as by its much broader genae. The new species differs from P. bipilosum Portsch. by its colour of prelabrum and legs, in the formation of facial spots, in thi number of postgenal setae, in the width of gena and the originating place of antennae. 2. Trixoscelis frontalis (Fallén, 1823) Material examined: Prov. Paktya: 22 km SE from Gardez, 2450-2500 m, from ethylene-glycol soil trap, 14.5-15.6. 1974, No. 155, 1 ?. This sole specimen from Afghanistan wholly corresponds with HACKMAN' s (1970:129) interpretation of the species, but COLLIN (1943: 219-220) suggested that it should be taken as canescens Loew, 1865, in case we accept the validity of the latter species, since it has greyish mesonotum with four brownish stripes. My pertaining view was expounded in more detail while discussing Trixoscelidiidae from Mongolia (1977:395-413).
