A Report on the Collecting of the Third Expedition By J. PAPP and A. VOJNITS (Received 18 September, 1975) Abstract: A detailed report on the zoological collectings and results of the third expedition in 1975. 23 000 insects were taken in three regions of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. A list of collecting sites with data is given. This was the third in line of the zoological collectings of the Bungarian Natural History Museum,, Budapest (cf. MAHUNKA & STEINMANN 1971, PAPP 4 HORVATOVICH 1972, in Appendix) to Korea. Within the framework of interstate agreement between the Korean Academy of Sciences and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, similarly to the previous two expeditions, we carried out zoological collectings in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It was agreed upon that our 1975 expedition would take place in the month of July, since the earlier expeditions did not collect in this particular month. In fact, the month of July is the time of the monsoon in Korea. Unfortunately, owing to various reasons we started our journey in the middle of that month, so our four-week collecting trip lasted from the 15th of July till the 12th of August. On the 14th of July, 1975 we boarded an aeroplane in Budapest and touching MoscowOmsk-Irkutsk reached Pyongyan, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on the following day. We spent a total of 29 days in this country. The following localities and dates show where we were accomodated during our stay in Korea: Pyongyan 15-21 July, Hyesan and Sam-zi-yan 22-28 July, Pyongyan 29 July to 3 August, Diamond Mountains 4-8 August, and finally in Pyongyan again from 9 to 12 August. We returned from Pyongyan to Budapest on the same route on the 12th of August reaching our capital on the next day. Our third expedition enjoyed the same privileges what we received during the previous two. Since we were official guests we were provided with an escort and an interpreter. In the person of our escort Mr. HUN-DAM O we found a very understanding companion and a very helpful hand. Our interpreter Mr. DONG-JUN VON spoke German quite fluently so there was no difficulty in understanding each other. At this
