FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (SERIES NOVA) XXV11. 1. 1974. p. 43-40 Dedicated to Dr. G. Szelényi on his 70th birthday Szelenyides, a new subgenus of Conostigmus Dahlboin, 1857 (Hymenoptera: Ceraphronoidea. Megaspilidae) By P. DESSART (Received December 10, 1973) Abstract: Two new species of the genus Conostrigmus DAHLBOM ( C . confluens sp. nov. and C.gusztavi sp. nov.) and a new subgenus (Szelenyides subgen. nov.) are described from Congo. In the Hymenoptera, when axillae are present in front of the scutellum, they have generally been described as mesoscutellar sclerites; as a matter of fact, they actually belong to the mesoscutum: the scutellum is not divided into three parts by the "frein" of the former Authors; this "frein" (or axillo-scutellar sutures) separates the mesoscutellum from the mesoscutum and this one is divided into three portions (mesoscutum s. str. and two axillae) by a transverse posterior suture. This is an almost universal feature among the Ceraphronoidea, where the axillae are only missing by the apterous females of Megaspilidae Lagynodinae (despite some erroneous descriptions by J.-J. KIEFFER, who denied the presence of axillae by various species as Dendrocerus (Atritomellus) fuscipes KIEFFER, 1907, "Dichogmus" nigriceps KIEFFER, 1907 now Conostigmus geniculatus KIEFFER, 1907), without mentioning the genus Trimicrops KIEFFER, 1906, described as a Ceraphronid but actually a Chalcid Pteromalid). We describe farther two new species of Conostigmus DAHLBOM, 1857, very peculiar in having the axillae quite unseparated from the rest of the mesoscutum, the usual posterior transverse suture being completely absent; we propose to unite those species into a new subgenus, dedicated to the excellenthymenopterologist Dr. GUSZTÁV SZELÉNYI and named Szelenyides, subgenus novum. The type-species of the subgenus is Conostigmus (Szelenyides) confluens , species nova, described hereafter .
