African and Oriental spe­cies. - Type species: coriaceus (KIRBY) 1891 Lobodiplatys STEINMANN. 1973 12 ( 7) Paired metaparamere on antero-lateral margin of para­mere simple, dentiform; its apex not or only very slightly incised, its inner margin not deeply emargi­nated and without teeth or dentition (Figs. 9-14). A shallower or deeper cleavage or plate whole, between metaparamers, on anterior margin of paramere. Paired genital lobes extremely variable in size and shape. Abdomen strongly widened in its apical half, cerci comparatively thinner, more or less semicircularly arcuate. Metaparamere relatively small, ending in obtuse tooth. - Type-genus: Esphalmenus BURR, 1909 Esphalmeninae BURR, 1909 Apex of metaparamere excised, anterior margin of para­mere shallower between metaparameres (Pig.l5),or deeper emarginated (Pig. 16).
