Abdomen strongly widened in its apical half, cerci comparatively thinner, more or less semicircularly arcuate. Metaparamere relatively small, ending in obtuse tooth. - Type-genus: Esphalmenus BURR, 1909 Esphalmeninae BURR, 1909 Apex of metaparamere excised, anterior margin of paramere shallower between metaparameres (Pig.l5),or deeper emarginated (Pig. 16).
