ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (SERIES NOVA) TOM. XXIV. 1971. Nr. 4. Zoological Collectings by the Hungarian Natural History Museum in Korea 1. A Report on the Collecting of the First Expedition By Dr. S. Mahunka and Dr. H. Steinmann Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest On the basis and in the frame of the recently signed Agreement between Hungary and Korea, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences made it possible that the research workers of the Hungarian Natural History Museum make zoological collectings in the Korean People's Republic. Embracing this opportunity, it was planned that zoological collectings and observations will be made yearly, beginning with 1970, in different regions of the country and at diverse seasons on each occasion. Our basic aim is to enrich by Korean specimens the Par East materials of the Zoological Department of the Natural History Museum on the one hand, and to participate and assist in the exposition and identification of the Korean fauna on the other. It was found already at the making of the preparatory plans that no reliable information or data can be obtained on the possibilities of collecting and zoological investigative work in Korea, hence the primary purpose of the first expedition was, besides the eventual collecting activities themselves, a survey of the possibilities and the personal inspection of the main types of habitats. Fol. Ent. Hung., XXIV. 1971.
