17- Grupe: Northern region N. 9.14, W. 2.15, Alt.: 625 ft (190 m). Northern woody savanna zone. A few miles west of Damongo , with a similar, guinea type woody savanna vegetation. A rich material was obtained here from about two hours netting. 18. Jamasi: Ashanti region N. 6.58, W. 1.28, Alt.: 950 ft (289 m). Semideciduous forest zone. The majority of the high forests are under cocoa cultivation. The collecting site was the valley of a small river (sifting of forest compost in the river bed, beating of a freshly fallen tree). 19. Juaben: Ashanti region N . 6.50, W. 1.25, Alt.: 1,000 ft (305 m) . Semideciduous forest zone. * The road towards Kumasi (about 20 mi, 35 km) leads through cocoa forests and agricultural areas around villages. In the bottom of a valley there are water ponds on the road side (water collection), disappearing into a marshy forest with raffia palms and bambus bushes, and Pandanus bushes (sifting) in some drier places. 20. Keta: Volta region N. 5.53, E. 1.00, Alt.: 0-15 ft (-5 m) . Strand and mangrove zone. The small town stands on the long narrow sandbank between the sea and the large Keta lagoon. The whole land strip is under strand vegetation with large coconut plantations and small agricultural areas around the villages.A very successful shore washing was made at a brackish canal on the lagoon side, and netting on an area covered almost exclusively by the grass Oynodon dactylon. The light collection (with a normal bulb) was made on the terrace of the resthouse overlooking the above nentioned areas towards the lagoon.
