the first and second stage of development they are peeling on the abaxial surface of the leaf-blade, from the third stage of development they were chewing it through. The food consumption of the single stages of development were examined by surface-measurements on the base of an average consumption of 40 larvae. The consumption of leaf-surface is highest in the last larval instar, when 64,7-66,5 per cent of the food necessary to their development is consumpted. The control of Cladius pectinicornis GEOFFR. tend to kill larvae in L-^ instars when damaring is yet relatively lower. Its natural parasites are Rhorus (Monoblastus ) neustriae SCHRK. and R.
