The long dry season lasts from March till October, with its precipitation minimum in August (usually without any rains), but it also happens that June-August are wholly dry (1962). Temperature values are the lowest in the dry season, highest in the rainy one. The fall in temperature is insignificant in the short dry season. A similar temporary change occurs also in humidity. Also, but with some shift, the value of insolation is lowest in the long dry season and the highest around the rainy months . The daily change of the meteorological data is considerable. The daily temperature minimum occurs around 3 a.m., while the maximum is around 3 p.m. ; the amplitude fluctuates between 12-15° C around the whole year. The extreme values in 5 years are 12.9° C, and 35.5° C in the shade. Aerial humidity is the highest between 3-6 a.m., and lowest around 3 p.m. ; its values move between 100 % and 40 %. During the stay of the expedition, the meteorological data had not deviated essentially from the 5 year means. The regularly applied collecting methods and technical equipment of the expedition had been the following. 1. For collecting the soil fauna: for the direct extraction of soil samples, 30 Berlese funnels with 25x25 cm, and 7 Berlese funnels with 50x50 cm,upper opening.Extraction was made in ethylenglycolous alcohol. For the extraction of sifted vegetable débris, humus, etc., 10 linen Moczarsky"ffinkler extractor were used, and extraction was made into wet wood excelsior (or paper bits), sometimes into ethylenglycolous alcohol. - Nematode soil samples were conserved in 4 per cent formaline. - The soil verms were collected by digging or formaline flushing. 2. The animals of the soil surface were collected by plastic pots sunk into the earth, covered with thin aluminium foils against rain. The killing and preserving agent was ethylenglycol , and the final conservation was made with 75 per cent alcohol. The traps were active for some days to
