Steinmann Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest We have but an incomprehenaive knowlodge of the geographical distribution of the Tetrigidae, especially as regards the ranges of the several apeciea and genera.We have to piece together, like a picture of mosaics, the synoptic faunal repreaentation of larger areas, especially if they be of a continental character, occasionally also transgressing zoogeographical bounariea. In the followings

, I submit the faunal picture concerning Tetrigida of one of the continente of our Earth, namely Africa. Only thoae apeciea have been ll8ted which are exclusively or preponderantly African. Theae latter were marked with an asterisk. The list took the shape of a catalogue for the very good reason of fecilitating further work /the establiahing of new species, their description, the showing of synonimies, etc./ as well as te enable reasearch workers to compare specimena from new localities with the original descriptions and types of the species in question. The boundaries of the area the natural frontiers of the continent, excluding, of course, Madagascar.
