A STAG FROM MYCENAf. 81 Fig. 3 Early Helladic period. (1:3) over on exterior and interior, on exterior 5YR 3/2 - 3/4 dark reddish brown burnished to medium high, metallic lustre; on interior 5YR 3/1 very dark grey. EH II. On the basis of the shape, the position of the handle fragment, the curving wall, and the slipped interior, the fragment can be classified as belonging to an askos, most probably to the wide-necked, elliptical-mouthed, rim-handled shape, termed as a scoop by J. Rutter, (RUTTER 1985, 18, Figs. 1:5, 1:6), and classified as Type 3 in the Lerna material, WIENCKE 2000, 531, Fig. 11.72. Chronologically this type is placed in Late Phase С in the Lerna sequence. Cf. Zygouries, BLEGEN 1928, 95, Fig. 82; Lerna (Lerna III), WIENCKE 2000, P788, PI. 13 (type 3, Late phase C). 7. (Fig. 3c) Rim fragment from a saucer, Type 2 coated with light-firing slip. From Korakou. D. rim 12.4 cm; H. 4.3; W. 8 cm. Medium coarse fabric with occasional small white grits. Fracture of two colours, on exterior 5YR 7/3 pink, on interior 5YR 6/2 pinkish grey; interior surface 5YR 6/4 - 7.5 YR 6/2 light reddish brown to pinkish grey, exterior and the inner part of the rim slipped and burnished to medium high lustre 10YR 4/2 dark greyish brown in differing thickness.
