34 ISTVÁN VÖRÖS SCAPULA SIN. (Inv. nr.: 59.12.5.) The scapula is long, wide and thick. The margo dorsalis is injured. The length of the scapula is 500 mm, the smallest breadth of the Collum 80 mm, the greatest breadth of proc. artic. is 98 mm, the breadth of cavitas glenoid, is 80 mm, height of cav. glenoid, is 70 mm. HUMERUS SIN. (Fig. 4.1, Inv. nr.: 59.12.6.) Bulky thick long bone with well developed appendices. The arched tub. majus craniale and the shelf-like widening flat tub. maj. minus are very large, the sulcus inertubercularis between them is wide. The caput humeri has a large surface. The tub. teres major is of rough touch. The dist. epiphysis is rotated outwards. The epicondylus lateralis is thick and wide. The trochlea humeri is relatively narrow in dorso-volar direction. RADIUS-ULNA sin. (the two bones are ossified together, Fig. 4. / 2, Inv. nr.: 59.12.7.) The radius is a thick, wide bone. The tuberositas radii is well developed. The corpus of the ulna is of latero-volaris position compared to the radius. The proc. styloideus is latero-ventrally elongated. METACARPUS sin. (Fig. 4./ 3, Inv. nr.: 59.12.8.) The гас is a short, wide bone. The diaphvsis is relatively narrow, especially slender at the medial part (breadth 50 mm!). The articulation surface of the mc5 is large. The latero-medial margo lines of the dist. epiph. are concave. Among the dist. trochleae, the medial one is 40 mm wide, the breadth of the lat. one is 37 mm. Os PHALANGIS I.SIN. ANT. LAT . (Inv. nr.: 59.12.9.) Short, thick bone. PELVIS SIN. ET DEXT. (Fig. 3./2, Inv. nr.: 59.1 2.10.) All the three bones of the pelvis are strong, thick with sharp crests of muscular ligament attachments and rough tubers. The two sides of the pelvis are already ossified ventrally. The heap bone of the right side pelvis (o. ilium) and the tuber ischiadicum are broken, the latter one missing as well. The heap bone (ilium) is wide, flat, the crista iliaca is sharp and concave. The corpus ilium is short and thick. The incisura ischiadica major is deep, the crista lateralis and medialis are both sharp. The diameter of the closed acetabulum is long: the length of the acetabulum is 85 mm, its height is 70 mm. The incisura acet. is low and narrow. The fissura acet. is wide and shallow: the height of the fissura acet. is 28 mm. The inner length of for. obturatum is 130 mm, tbe inner height of the for. obturatum is 73 mm. The arcus ischiadica is narrow and deep. The wide spina ischiadica is high, with protruding laths on the external surface. The dimensions of the pelvis are presented in Table 3. The large size of the ventrally extended tuberculum pubicum (Fig. 3.2) is especially striking on the pelvis. I bis feature as well as its robust character, apparent „tuber" iliopectinea (length 56 mm), size and dimensions of the acetabulum and the for. obturatum, together with the construction of the other bones indicate that the Egervár aurochs was a male individual, i.e., a bull.
