Kovács Tibor: A múltat idézve, előre tekintve emlékezzünk! 200 éves a Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum

26 VIOLA T. DOBOSI along the Danube- bend around the small interstadial phase after the Würm 3 cold maximum. The site is unique from several points within the Hungarian settlements. The ratio of blunted blades is very high, almost all artefact edges were blunted: a "late Gravettian rich in blunted blades". On the settlement surface, an unusually large number of ornate shell Tertiary molluscs were found (91 pieces), and the most characteristic and surprising feature is the raw material of the artefacts: the primary geological source of about 90% of the stone artefacts originated, most probably, from the Prut valley, from a distance of more than 600 kms 1 4. The above examples prove that Proboscideans were important and popular sources of raw material used for various purposes in all possible bits during the whole period of the Palaeolithic period.
