42 VIOLA T. DOBOSI-IS ÏV ÀN GATTER Sample 11.: slightly non-transparent, cloudy, elongated form. Contains traces of cleavage and many inclusions in the size range of 5-10 дт, scale forms intertwined chaotically or elongated isometrical types. Most of the objects have two phases, with 5-10 vol. % gaseous phase, containing H„0 or CO.,. The sample comes from the "root" part of a grown-up crystal or from a transparent-translucent quartzite lens. Photo: 3, 4. Inv. nr. Pb. 96 /24, wide blade, with strong bulb, strong ribs on the dorsal side. Burin edge on the basis, the lateral edge is denticulate (natural cleavage). Size: 48x35 mm. Sample 12.: clear, nearly rectangular tool. The surface is dissected by dense cleavage surfaces nearly parallel to the shorter side. Microscopical studies revealed stripes with fluid inclusions of 5-10 jam resembling the inclusions of Sample 7. from Pilismarót - Tetves (the two sites are only a few hundred meters of distance from each other, and the stratigraphical position of the upper cultural level in Bánom agrees well with that of the Tetves site). The settlements in the vicinity of Pilismarót belong to the same cultural horizon, i.e., the younger blade phylum of the Gravettian entity. The very similar inclusion pattern of the two sites allow the hypothesis of more exact contemporaneity, i.e., the two flakes could come of the same raw material. Inv. nr. Pb 96/12. Triangular, plan-parallel flake with an ad hoc burin on one tip. Size: 19x17 mm. Sample 13.: clear, trigonal crystal bordered by two main planes. At the most pointed peak part, scarred laminar 10-20 дт large inclusions are found together with 10-15 цт elongated or tubular objects filled with 95 vol. % gaseous matter. The inclusion patter resembles to some extent Sample 7 (Pilismarót-Tetves). The single rock crystal artefact from the lower cultural layer can be described in the following: Inv. nr. Pb 96 /91. Amorphous flake with strong ribs at the dorsal side. Unretouched. Size: 35x31 mm. Sample 14.: clear, the surface is arched with parallel cleavage surfaces. Microscopical investigations could not find interior objects within the resolution of the microscope. Cultural affiliation of the settlements near Pilismarót: all the sites belong to the younger blade phylum of the Gravettian entity. The flakes found in the Basaharc brickyards in older stratigraphical position can be regarded only strayfinds without proper control excavations. Types of the rock crystal artefacts on the basis of their fluid inclusion content According to the microscopical and the preliminary freezing investigations (see below), the fluid inclusions were determined as H 90 and/or H,O-C0„ type inclusions. With great probability, the inclusions containing small amounts of gaseous phase (5-20 vol. %) can be attributed to Н чО while two-phase inclusions with great amount of gaseous matter or one-phase gaseous" inclusions represent fluids of the H„0-C0 2 type. In some cases, when the amount of CO., reached the minimal amount observable at room temperature (2.4 mol %), it could be observed in some inclusions as a immiscible liquid (Sample 13.) The presence of CO., can be otherwise demonstrated by systematical freezing to -100, -200 °C. By a slow warming on room temperature the phase transitions could be observed/Roedder, E., 1963, Collins, PL., 1979 etc.). One of the samples
